Many struggle to access the care they need when it truly matters most. However, OCCC’s partnership with TimelyCare allows any current OCCC student or faculty/staff member to access quality care – free of charge.
What is TimelyCare?
TimelyCare offers services from state-licensed providers who specialize in managing mental and physical health. One of its most popular offerings, known as “TalkNow,” provides students with round-the-clock access to mental health support, with an average wait time of four minutes or less. Scheduled counseling sessions, featuring personalized therapy, are available as well.
“We have been partnered with TimelyCare since February 2025,” said Ashley Valentas, director of student accessibility and support at OCCC. “Since that time, we have seen many students across campus utilize the resource. TimelyCare provides an additional avenue for students to seek support, especially for our students who are primarily seeking online degrees, as TimelyCare is 100% virtual.”
Students with online courses can access TimelyCare directly through the Moodle learning management system. Once they log in to the Moodle platform, they simply need to open the “Student Resources & Support” tab, where they will see a link to “TimelyCare – Virtual care from anywhere.”
“TimelyCare is also available for you even if you travel outside of Oklahoma,” Valentas noted. “As long as you download the app and sign in to register, you can access all of the features anywhere in the United States” – with popular features, such as TalkNow and Self-Care Journeys, available internationally as well.
Self-Care, Provider Care
TimelyCare also allows students to manage their own health by providing them with access to a library of self-help materials, including videos, articles, pamphlets, anonymous peer-discussion groups, podcast episodes and “journeys” for specific struggles, such as depression, loss or sleep. Once students sign up for TimelyCare using their college email address and answer all the background questions, they will land on the home page, where they can tap on “Get Care” to select either “Self-Care” or “Provider Care.”
TimelyCare offers five types of provider care: TalkNow, MedicalNow, Health Coaching, Counseling and Medical. TalkNow and MedicalNow are the immediate-care options. Health Coaching, Counseling and Medical require an appointment, but the appointment can be made the same day.
Those seeking counseling or medical services must initially set up a “health profile” to give the provider background information on their health history. Those opting for TalkNow or Health Coaching need to select a reason for their appointment.
To start accessing these new benefits, students should visit TimelyCare.com/OCCC or download the TimelyCare app.
